When the owner described Enigma, it was puzzling even mysterious as to how they have fitted so much into this houseboat. Then understanding that this is not the first houseboat this owner has built on their journey over many decades on Lake Eildon as their family has grown. This invaluable experience has been used in the design and layout to ensure the whole family can be onboard together and have a great time.
Enigma is very much a family holiday home.
If you have a large family or two family members wanting to share a houseboat holiday home, then make the time to check out Enigma.
Firstly accommodation, Enigma has 5 formal bedrooms; 4 with queen walkaround beds and a bunk room of 4 single beds for the younger kids. Then there are four couch/queen sofa beds for when there are extras.
Enigma has a spacious main bathroom and a second separate toilet with vanity. Plus, there is the rear external shower to rinse off under.
Important in design for a family houseboat is having an entertainment relaxation space for each generation. At water level there is a large rear lounge opening onto a spacious rear deck with a large hydraulic duckboard. Plenty of room to enjoy the water sports during Summer or just throwing in a line to catch a giant Murray Cod.
The first storey level is full relaxation and entertainment. Front deck, enjoy the sun on the double day beds.
The open living area has plenty of lounges to relax on and watch the cricket, tennis or football on the large retractable TV screen. The whole family can sit up to dinner together with the dining table seating 12.
The main kitchen on this level has all the modern appliances you would expect including icemaker, wine cabinet and drinks fridges. The innovative indoor/outdoor servery extends the kitchen to the large stainless steel BBQ unit.
Then the rest of the rear deck is for relaxing. Catch the views as you sip drinks and chat at the outdoor table or just catch the sun on the sun lounges.
The top deck is to just escape to for quite times to relax and take in the absolute magic of Lake Eildon; watching a brilliant sunset as the sun’s rays dance on the water or at night you feel like you can reach out and touch the chandelier of stars.
Yes, a fantastic family experience but does Enigma have the modern technology to ensure it all works stress free. The quick answer is Yes, she sure does.
The long answer: firstly, a Volvo Penta 300hp V8 with a duo-prop has plenty of power to move this large houseboat comfortably. Then there are front and rear thrusters to aide manoeuvrability. More innovation as you will not run out of battery power with the thrusters when you most need it as they are powered by an efficient reliable hydraulic system.
Enigma has the power and manoeuvrability to take you to your favourite inlet on the Lake and bring you home again safely.
Then Solar Electrics: Enigma has a quality large 25kva Kohler diesel Generator to back up the whole system. There are two Outback Inverter integrated systems with an Outback Flexmac Solar Change Controller. Significantly the house batteries have recently (2024) been upgraded with 3 x Greenbank Lithium 16Kw Battery Packs. These are all fed by 15 x 300watt Solar Panels.
Enigma has plenty of Power.
Another important feature is the external cladding, and all eaves are composite aluminium which provides a clean sleek look as well as minimizing maintenance.
Enigma is 10 years old having had the one owner and with his years of experience he has designed a fantastic family holiday home on the water. A design that is about maximizing your time together as a family making those special memories that will last a lifetime.
